Ep. 5:Shibari(Pt. 2 of 2)

Some (MORE) Trussed Up Turkey!

This is the second course of a two-course meal. Katt and Jeef put safety first with a deep-dive on the potential risks of Shibari and Rope Play. Katt gets paws on some rope and surprisingly doesn’t get tangled in it while brushing over Types of Rope and Materials. Happy Hour includes discussing what a Safety/Risk Profile is and how to assess your own. Host results of last episodes Edging Game competition will be revealed!

Make sure to stay for dessert where we share more incredible shibari art, resources and our favorite shibari content creators. Stay knotty!

Show Notes:

[Happy Hour]

Benefits of creating a risk profile:

Safe words and limits are useful, but a risk profile does a few things the other fail-safes don’t. Risk profiles are about the consequences, not the in-play experience

-Prioritizes first aid.

-Determines when a scene must end.

-Avoid worst-case scenarios.

Other Safety/Risk Profile Questions to Consider:

Questions to reflect on either alone or with a partner:

  • What bondage pictures/types interest you?

  • What do you need to trust someone in rope?

  • Is bondage sexually intimate to you? What does it mean for you and your partner?

  • Personal insecurities to address for yourself or with your partner?

  • Consider your body, jobs, hobbies, values, and relationships, to start.

*Creating a personal risk profile:

  • How anxious do you feel about possible risks/injuries?

  • Level of experience?: Rigging: First Aid: Unexpected Emergencies (RACK)

  • Do you want Suspension? Types of poses?

  • How many check-ins/check points? Mode of communication in rope?

  • Special or anatomical needs? Concerns?

  • Panicking in rope?

The better you know your intentions and preferences the easier it’ll be to communicate these things and find a suitable rope partner or dynamic.
